General Clock Chipping Info
General Info for Do-it-yourselfers:
- Marc Schrier (one of the partners in Output
Enablers) maintains a huge compendium of Mac-specific clock-chipping
information. This is the best source of information for
someone considering a do-it-yourself Mac modification.
- Takashi Imai maintains a collection of
information about motherboard modifications. Some of his
modifications are amazing, but they occasionally require parts
that aren't readily available.
- The O'grady
PowerPage has some information on clocking the 3400. They also have a lot of
information about all of Apple's Portable machines.
- MacAddict magazine has a very cool
column called This Old Mac by T. Kelley Boylan. This
column has great tidbits about squeezing the last ounce of
performance out of older machines.
Parts Suppliers:
- Well, obviously, there's us (Output
Enablers). We've got more oscillator frequencies than you can
shake a stick at. We've also got CPU fans, SMT components,
and PLL components, and we produce some complete packages for
some older machines. See our product
list for more details.
- DigiKey
has a large selection of random electronics parts that are
useful.
- If you are lucky enough to live in California, Fry's
Electronics carries a bunch of useful parts. Fry's is a
computer geek's idea of heaven and hell all rolled into
one.
